WWE News: Ronda Rousey dons Sonya Blade gear for WWE Elimination Chamber

Ronda Rousey is the new voice for Mortal Kombat's Sonya Blade. The Raw Women's Champion decided to honour her first childhood hero tonight at WWE Elimination Chamber with some special ring gear.

Earlier in the year, Netherrealm Studios hosted the Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal Party. Along with the announcement of new and returning characters and a look at the gameplay of the upcoming title, it was revealed that Ronda Rousey would be voicing one of the series main characters, Sonya Blade.
In the video above, Rousey talked about how important Sonya Blade was to her, considering her the first real childhood hero, idolizing her and basing her persona and fighting style around the character. And tonight at WWE Elimination Chamber, she took it to a whole new level.
The heart of the matter
At Elimination Chamber tonight, Ronda Rousey defended her Raw Women's Championship against Ruby Riott. Rousey dropped her iconic Rowdy Roddy Piper gear for one night in order to pay homage to another one of her heroes, the Earthrealm General Sonya Blade.
What's next?
Rousey brought out her inner "Kombatant" tonight in a monstrous one-sided beatdown of Ruby Riott. After the match, Rousey stared down Charlotte Flair, her challenger at WrestleMania 35. However, a certain injured superstar interrupted the meeting, with the crowd chanting for the return of The Man. There are sure to be repercussions for the brawl tonight, both coming from the higher-ups and Ronda Rousey herself.
While Rousey won't defend her championship against Charlotte until WrestleMania 35, you can play as the character she voices, Sonya Blade, in Mortal Kombat 11 when it hits stores on April 23rd for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
