WWE News: Ronda Rousey praises Natalya for keeping wrestling training a secret

What's the story?

On Monday Night Raw Natalya was drafted to the red brand and immediately attacked by Absolution. However, Ronda Rousey ran in to save the former. Many wondered why Rousey would defend Natalya, but it turns out Natalya was incredibly influential in Rousey's wrestling training.

In case you didn't know...

Dave Meltzer suggested that the WWE would have made the decision to pair Rousey with Natalya as a result of their background with each other and the fact that Natalya helped to train Rousey.

He also went on to speculate that the two would team-up until it was time for Natalya's eventual betrayal with the third generation superstar turning on Rousey and becoming her next major feud after Stephanie McMahon.

The heart of the matter

If the above booking by Meltzer is indeed the direction that WWE take then Rousey praising Natalya publicly will only make the eventual betrayal even better, which is exactly what Rousey has done here.

Of course, outside of kayfabe, Rousey is genuinely thankful for everything Natalya has done for her, and is genuinely praising her for training her and for keeping her wrestling a secret before her shock debut at the Royal Rumble.

What's next?

Ronda Rousey and Natalya will not be at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, and neither currently have anything to do for WWE's next official pay-per-view Backlash, although It's possible we could see something develop on the next Monday Night Raw.

Author's take

Ronda Rousey is expected to be a big draw for Monday Night Raw going forward and a programme with someone she's familiar with in the ring with, and someone as experienced as Natalya will surely be a good thing for the former MMA fighter. However, in real life it's nice to see the lengths Natalya has gone to to make Rousey feel welcome.
