WWE News: Ronda Rousey talks about her upcoming WrestleMania match and more
What's the story?
Wrestling Inc. is reporting on an interview that Ronda Rousey had with Sky Sports to discuss the early stages of her WWE career. During this interview, Rousey would talk about her upcoming match at WrestleMania 34, as well as comparing the WWE to the UFC.
In case you didn't know...
Rousey is a two-time Olympian having competed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. Though 2004 didn't go her way, Rousey was able to win the bronze medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing, China.
The heart of the matter...
Regarding Rousey's match at WrestleMania where she will team up with the Raw General Manager Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, and Rousey stated that there is a lot on the line in this match, and if there is anyone in the world that can handle that pressure, it is her.
"I am just so lucky to have this opportunity that it would be a slap in the face for everybody who has given it to me to not give it every single ounce of effort that I have in me. That's all I can do. The best I can do is the best I can do and so I'm going to give it all that I've got. I've got faith that it will be great and that we will exceed expectations."
Rousey mentioned how extremely grateful that she is for this opportunity and finds it hard to believe how she deserves it, but she will give it "absolutely everything" she has to perform at a high level.
She was also asked how different it is to show up for WWE compared to the UFC. Take a look at what she had to say regarding those differences below:
"The most fun part is not knowing what's going to happen and to turn up to events without that pit of dread in my stomach. Instead there's a tingle of excitement and that's a big change for me. I don't normally walk into arenas smiling and it's really weird but it's a great experience. I'm genuinely excited for the future and I'm really looking forward to what might happen."
What's next?
There are only three editions of Monday Night Raw before WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. If the rumors are to be believed, Rousey is scheduled to be at one of those final Raws, most likely the final one before Mania on April 2nd when they are in Atlanta, Georgia.
Author's take
It amazes me the negativity that some "fans" of the WWE have for Rousey, but if you just look at how much she is grateful for this opportunity, it is impossible to boo her. I think her actions over her first appearances in the WWE has turned some of those boos into cheers, but there will always be haters no matter how great of a job you do (see Roman Reigns).
