WWE News Roundup: Former champion has "decided to retire from pro wrestling;" Star on Randy Orton's role in his firing; Veteran on Becky Lynch

Welcome to another edition of WWE News Roundup, in which we aim to discuss all the top stories making the rounds in the world of the pro wrestling juggernaut. In today's piece, we will look at stories revolving around Becky Lynch and Randy Orton, among others.

Also, a former champion has noted that he has ''decided to retire from pro wrestling.'' So without any further delay, let's begin:

#4. WWE RAW results

The build-up for Saturday Night's Main Event continued on RAW, as Finn Balor and Gunther were involved in a brawl that also saw the return of Damian Priest. We also saw Liv Morgan and IYO SKY exchange blows ahead of their match at the upcoming show.

Also, Seth Rollins and CM Punk shared their thoughts on each other, while The New Day was treated to a hostile reaction from the crowd.

Here are the full results from the show:

  • The Final Testament & The Miz def. The Wyatt Sicks
  • Liv Morgan def. Dakota Kai
  • Lyra Valkyria def. Zelina Vega & Ivy Nile
  • Rhea Ripley def. Raquel Rodriguez in an Anything Goes Match

#3. Former WWE Superstar commented on Randy Orton's possible role in his firing

Ken Anderson (FKA Mr. Kennedy) was at the peak of his career in WWE in the mid-2000s. However, his run with the company abruptly came to an end in 2009, with speculations being that Randy Orton and John Cena played a part in the star's firing.

In a recent interaction with Ten Count Media, the 48-year-old addressed the rumors, noting that in the end, he was the only one to be blamed for his situation.

"To be honest with you, I have no idea. I don’t know if any of that’s true. It doesn’t really matter to me. Even if that was true, it’s just part of my history. I can either complain about it and whine about it, or I can just move forward. Of course, ultimately, I am the one responsible for getting myself fired. Even if those guys did some behind-the-scenes talking or whatever, I was in enough of a situation where Vince would listen to that,'' he said. [H/T: RSN]

The erstwhile Mr. Kennedy has wrestled for multiple pro wrestling promotions since leaving the global juggernaut. He recently competed against real-life Bloodline member Zilla Fatu at RPW Destiny 4.

#2. Becky Lynch is needed in WWE

WWE's women's division has suffered a lot in Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair's absence.

In a recent episode of Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the veteran highlighted the importance of the two, noting that their experience is needed in the women's division.

"See, with the girls it's the same thing; you've got to tell a story in there somewhere. I mean, they've got a couple of stories going on. It's not as in-depth as the men. Most of these girls don't have the experience that the guys have because you don't have Charlotte Flair there anymore. Becky Lynch is out," he said.

The 75-year-old added:

"These are your experienced women. When you take those out, you replace them with talent that's not as experienced, and creativity is limited to who they have."

The Man was last seen in action in May 2024. Her contract subsequently expired in June. Meanwhile, The Queen has been on the sidelines since December 2023. However, both women are expected to return on the Road to WrestleMania 41.

#1. Former WWE champion says he has ''decided to retire'' from pro wrestling

Former WWE Superstar Trevor Lee (FKA Cameron Grimes) recently sparked a buzz on X, as he noted that he had ''decided to retire'' from pro wrestling. The former NXT North American Champion was released from the company earlier this year in April.

However, the next line of the star's post seemingly confirmed that his comment was just a joke.

"I’ve decided to retire from professional wrestling and start my career as a professional baseball player. Does anyone have any leads on how to become a professional baseball player?" he wrote.

The 31-year-old has been active on the independent circuit since leaving the company.
