WWE News Roundup: Former world champion announces he has quit the company, Finn Balor breaks character, Ex-employee on Drew McIntyre

Welcome to the latest edition of WWE News Roundup. In today's piece, we will cover exciting stories revolving around Drew McIntyre and Finn Balor, among others.

We will also cover the latest releases that saw multiple prominent stars depart the company. So without any further delay, let's begin.

#1. Finn Balor breaks character at recent live event

WWE has been on a tour of Europe in the last few days. The RAW roster stopped over in Belfast, Ireland for a house show on April 20. The event saw Finn Balor compete in his home country after a long interval. The Prince was involved in a Fatal Four-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship where Sami Zayn retained the title.

After the match, Zayn extended his hand to The Judgment Day member. In a rare character-breaking action, Balor accepted the IC Champion's offer. Finn also received a huge pop from his home crowd.

#2. Jinder Mahal announces departure from WWE

While Jinder Mahal had a solid start to 2024, the former champion faded back into the shadows after a World Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins.

The Modern Day Maharaja recently revealed on social media that he's no longer a part of the company.

Mahal was involved in a segment with The Rock during the start of the year after which he also got a title opportunity.

#3. Multiple stars released

Jinder Mahal was not the only one released from the global juggernaut. Xia Li, Xyon Quinn, Veer Mahaan, and Sanga were also let go by the company.

According to a recent report, no other names are expected to be released at this time.

#4. Former employee on Drew McIntyre potentially leaving WWE

Drew McIntyre's current WWE contract is reportedly set to expire soon, with two sides yet to agree on a new deal. However, Tommy Carlucci, a former WWE employee, believes that The Scottish Warrior is unlikely to leave the company:

"Drew's been fighting to be the champion and all that. And if he left, I would be totally shocked that WWE couldn't get a deal done with Drew McIntyre because he's a top talent, Coach. He can cut a promo. He can work in the ring. He can represent the company in a big way. He can go on a talk show. He can do a spot on a TV show or anything like that. He can go on Saturday Night Live or whatever. He's very entertaining and I think I would be totally shocked if Drew McIntyre left," he said.

Drew McIntyre has been in action at the company's last few house shows across Europe. The RAW star took on Jey Uso at each event, suffering a loss in every match.
