What's the story?

The 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view took place on the 28th of January. The Men's Royal Rumble Match saw a few surprise Rumble Entrances, as former WWE stars made a return to the ring. Among these WWE stars was The Hurricane, who had a short and sweet showing in the match.

After the Rumble was over, he gave a post-match interview backstage, where he reacted to his in-ring return and how it felt to have the fans greet him.

In case you didn't know...

Hurricane AKA Gregory Helms is a former WWE wrestler. He first came to the promotion when WWE bought WCW, and later started wearing a superhero costume and called himself The Hurricane.

Hurricane had a popular feud against the Rock and was over with the WWE audience for his ridiculous feats of apparent superhero achievements.

In one of his most memorable moments, he came into the ring as part of the Royal Rumble, when Stone Cold and Triple H were the other two participants. He grabbed both by the throat and tried to throw them out, but was thrown out himself.

The heart of the matter

The Hurricane made his return in the 2018 Royal Rumble and tried to eliminate John Cena by grabbing him by the throat in a move reminiscent of the time he tried the same thing on Triple H and Stone Cold. He was eliminated by Cena, but not before he had a huge response from the live audience.

In the post-match interview, he said that he felt the love of the audience. He also mentioned his catch-phrase to end the interview, "Through howling winds or pouring rain, all evil shall fear the Hurricane."

What's next?

The Hurricane did not comment on whether he was going to be a part of WWE going forward. This may have been a one-time appearance from the WWE legend only for the Rumble.

Author's take

The 2018 Royal Rumble pay-per-view was one of the best WWE shows hosted in a long time. Altogether, with the guest-appearances, WWE's Royal Rumble was well thought out and not rushed in a single instance.
