WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Another veteran officially joins AEW, Former champion expected to be released, Goldberg criticized for comments on Asuka

A very warm welcome to yet another chapter of WWE News & Rumor Roundup! In today's edition, we will cover exciting topics related to top names like Goldberg, Asuka, and Ronda Rousey.

Last month, former Universal Champion Goldberg made remarks about Asuka, calling her ''some Japanese girl.'' This did not go down well with fans and critics, as it can be seen as a sign of disrespect. We will talk about other issues, such as a former champion likely to be released by WWE because of Ronda Rousey. So without further ado, let's dive in:

#1 Vince Russo slams Goldberg for his comments on Asuka

Former WCW writer Vince Russo spoke on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws about Goldberg's comments last month. He stated that while sometimes WWE does things as a rib, neither Asuka nor Goldberg had a legitimate winning streak, and it was futile on Goldberg's part to talk about Asuka.

"A lot of times, we talk about it all the time; the WWE will do stuff as a rib," Russo said. "But, in this case, it's like, bro, neither one of you had a streak, and everybody does the Spear.'' [2:23 – 2:37]

The Hall of Famer had stated on the Nothing Left Unsaid podcast that WWE had ''some Japanese girl'' beat his undefeated streak. He also complained that everyone in the company started using the Spear as a finisher, which used to be his signature move.

#2 Drew Gulak is expected to be fired by WWE

Former Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak has been in hot water after Ronda Rousey accused him of inappropriate behavior while she was with the company. Dave Meltzer reported that Gulak would be eventually fired, if not already.

“I don’t know that he’s [Drew Gulak] been fired, but when I ask, it’s like, if he hasn’t been, he probably will be. It’s not looking good for him; let’s put it that way,” said Meltzer.

Gulak has not been seen on NXT since the accusation was made by Rousey and has seemingly been written off TV. The former Women's Champion had claimed that Gulak touched the drawstrings of her sweatpants backstage. Gulak responded by saying that it was an accident.

#3 Carlos Cabrera has signed with AEW

Former WWE Spanish commentator Carlos Cabrera has officially joined AEW. Tony Khan made the news public on Twitter/X, welcoming Cabrera to the commentary team for Dynamite. Cabrera had worked for the Stamford-based promotion for almost 30 years before he was let go in 2022.

“Welcome to the @AEW commentary team tonight on Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite! Carlos Cabrera is All Elite!” wrote Khan.

Cabrera had been with the company since 1994 and was part of several iconic moments. He is the latest in a long list of names who have joined AEW in recent times. The biggest names include Adam Copeland and Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks).
