WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Cody Rhodes may lose his title before WrestleMania feud, former champion re-signs with the company, Becky Lynch update

Welcome to Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE Roundup, where we bring you the biggest stories from the world of wrestling. Today's edition features some big news and rumors.

The likes of Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, and others are involved in today's topics. We will also look at a huge event announcement that was made by the company yesterday. So, without further ado, let's get into today's stories.

#4. Saturday Night's Main Event is back

While it isn't a premium live event, WWE finally has a big weekend show in December again. After 16 years, Saturday Night's Main Event is back as a television special. It is set to take place on December 14 in Long Island, New York, and will be broadcast on NBC.

Based on the poster, we can expect a blockbuster card. Cody Rhodes is front and center, while Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are on it as well. It will be interesting to see how WWE handles the long-awaited return of Saturday Night's Main Event.

#3. Becky Lynch is reportedly returning soon

It has been over 100 days since Becky Lynch last appeared on WWE television, losing to Liv Morgan in a Steel Cage Match. The Man is currently not under contract with the company, but it seems like her future is straightforward.

The latest report seems to indicate Lynch will return sooner or later. Twitter/X insider WRKD Wrestling quote-tweeted a post about Big Time Becks with an update on her. They suggested it's "only a matter of time" before she is back.

It remains to be seen when or how Becky Lynch will return to the ring, especially with her husband Seth Rollins currently on his own hiatus.

#2. Sheamus re-signs with WWE

WWE is seemingly in renewal season, with multiple stars set to re-sign with the company soon. One of them has already confirmed he is staying. Sheamus took to social media to confirm he will remain there for at least a few more years, sending a heartfelt message as well:

"Here’s to many more years of getting paid for doing what i love most.. kicking fellas in the face & having banger after banger.. ANNND thanks to each ‘n’ every one of you beautiful legends 💚 Sláinte," wrote Sheamus.

From the looks of things, Cody Rhodes might keep his Undisputed WWE Championship until at least WrestleMania 41. He is expected to face The Rock at the event, so it makes sense for The American Nightmare to keep the title for the match.

However, Dave Meltzer has stated that Rhodes is not necessarily guaranteed to be the champion heading into The Show of Shows next year. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer claimed that Cody Rhodes vs. The Rock could instead be for the People's Championship:

"One of the deals with Rock and Cody, a year ago, was if Cody – it was not a lock that Cody would have a one-year run. He could but one of the things I was pretty much told is the reason for the People’s Title was a backup for Cody not to go a year. So, they could go with something else," Meltzer said.

The customized belt was introduced for The Final Boss ahead of WrestleMania 40, potentially as a backup plan to ensure his match with Rhodes has some stakes. It will be interesting to see whether the Undisputed WWE Champion keeps his title until The Rock is back.
