WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Ex-champion might never wrestle again, backstage reaction to huge Bloodline twist, surprising Braun Strowman update
Another WWE SmackDown episode is in the books and as always, fans witnessed more nail-biting swerves in the long-running Bloodline saga. Bronson Reed joined forces with Solo Sikoa on an explosive segment and we now know how the officials backstage reacted to the unexpected moment.
Fans who attended the blue brand's latest episode were also treated to the return of Braun Strowman, who teamed up with a legendary name after SmackDown. While Braun returned to the ring, another veteran star was recently asked about potentially having another WWE match and his answer might disappoint many.
On that note, let's delve into today's top stories:
#1. Diamond Dallas Page comments on a possible in-ring return
He might not have had the desired run in WWE, but Diamond Dallas Page will always be remembered as one of WCW's greatest stars and World Champions. DDP was last seen wrestling a match in 2020 when he stepped inside the ring for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in a six-man tag team match on Dynamite.
A lot has happened since and these days DDP is on a WWE Legends deal. During a recent interview with Metro, Page was asked about wrestling again and the legend said that had no intentions of doing so. However, he is still open to appearing and delivering a few Diamond Cutters if necessary.
“My life is so full I don’t have time for any of that. I’m five months from 69 years young. My body – I’m still a Ferrari. I just got nine or 98,000 miles on me [laughs]. So you know, are there a couple of Diamond Cutters in me? Yeah – and if they ever need it, I’m there. But as far as match, I’m good.” [H/T: Metro]
DDP was backstage at WWE Bad Blood and there is always a chance fans could see him make an unannounced appearance in the future.
#2. Backstage reaction to Bronson Reed's WWE SmackDown moment
While many saw it coming, Bronson Reed becoming the fifth member of Solo Sikoa's Survivor Series: WarGames team was certainly a defining moment in the Australian superstar's career. Reed not only aligned with Sikoa's Bloodline but also hurt Roman Reigns with a brutal attack.
Bronson posed with The Bloodline to end an impactful segment and people behind the scenes seemed to have loved every bit of it. WrestleVotes reported that Bronson Reed's Bloodline segment received a "strong" reaction backstage. Another source was also heard saying the following:
Bronson Reed has lost some big matches of late but working alongside The Bloodline has instantly raised his stock on the roster. A WWE veteran also made an interesting observation about Reed.
#3. Braun Strowman returns to action
The last time Braun Strowman wrestled, he and Bronson Reed destroyed the ring in their Last Monster Standing Match. Strowman has since been on a brief hiatus from the squared circle, that was until this week's SmackDown.
The Monster of All Monsters appeared after the show went off the air to team up with Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee and take on The Judgment Day. As you can imagine from the visuals below, Strowman and the babyfaces gave the live crowd an entertaining match.
Braun Strowman tore his groin during the aforementioned clash with Reed, which forced him to the sidelines in recent weeks. The former Universal Champion has now wrestled his first dark match and the hope would be for him to make a full-fledged return to TV soon.
