WWE News & Rumor Roundup - First-time-ever John Cena match planned, Roman Reigns teases return of a major star, Reunion after 14 years?

Welcome back to Sportskeeda's daily WWE News and Rumor roundup. WWE has had a typically busy atmosphere following another SmackDown episode.

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes had a memorable segment outside the ring, and during the exchange, the Original Tribal Chief teased the comeback of a popular name.

While The Bloodline story remains a hot topic in WWE, John Cena's retirement tour will soon pick up pace, and a big match is reportedly in the works for the franchise player.

We ended the roundup with Xavier Woods hinting at a reunion after over a decade with a tag team allegedly WWE-bound.

A year-long retirement tour is bound to have a host of rematches and showdowns that have never happened before. As reported exclusively on WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass, there has been internal talk regarding having John Cena take on Logan Paul.

The current creative head, Triple H, and his team are also eager to possibly create the ideal scenario for a match between the former United States Champions. It was also noted that both Cena and Paul are very interested in working together, which would be a no-brainer for WWE from a mainstream standpoint.

John Cena's retirement tour will go on through 2025, and WrestleVotes reported that the 16-time world champion might have already given the company a list of opponents he'd want to face. Logan Paul, to his credit, could be one of the names more likely to get the lucrative match.

Fans were treated to one of the most unique angles on this week's SmackDown. Ahead of their tag team match, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns cut promos from the football field of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

WWE expertly capitalized on the connection that both men have to the city to produce one of the most visually impactful segments in recent times. Rhodes and Reigns, despite being rivals, will be on the same side at Bad Blood against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

Roman Reigns addressed multiple topics during the segment, but the most interesting part was him remembering what had happened to Jimmy Uso. Reigns said "they" took Jimmy and The Wiseman, Paul Heyman, from him, and he was willing to join forces with Cody Rhodes to take the new Bloodline down for good.

Roman mentioning Jimmy seemed like a clear hint that the former tag team champion could return soon to help the now-babyface Original Tribal Chief.

#3. Xavier Woods potentially drops a Motor City Machine Guns reference

All's not well within The New Day as a heel turn for Xavier Woods seems just around the corner.

Woods was a frustrated individual after he and Kofi Kingston were recently unsuccessful in winning the tag team titles, thanks to unintentional interference. There is some friction between Xavier and Kofi, but whether that leads to a split isn't known. Woods, however, continues to drop cryptic hints about a potentially exciting future.

Motor City Machine Guns are expected to be on their way to WWE, and interestingly enough, the highly acclaimed tag team worked with Xavier Woods in TNA between 2008 and 2010. Woods took to X (fka Twitter) and seemingly prepared himself for a reunion with Motor City Machine Guns, who could be the "old friends" he is referring to in the post below.

Whatever happens with the New Day, the excitement amongst the WWE Universe is palpable for Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin's debuts.
