WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Former champion leaving after 17 years? AEW legally can't make an offer to top RAW star, Cody Rhodes manager update
Welcome to Sportskeeda's daily WWE news and rumor roundup, and as always, we have some big stories to dissect. A respected superstar could be considering ending a long run with the company as a new contract status update has emerged.
AEW is also apparently interested in a top name from RAW. However, the promotion currently can't make a move for the highly-rated superstar. The roundup ends with a legendary star finally addressing the rumors of his possible return to become Cody Rhodes' manager.
On that note, let's get to the top stories of the day:
#1. Natalya's WWE status
Having started in the WWE's developmental territory in 2007, Natalya has come a long way during her 17-year run in the company.
As reported extensively over the past few days, Natalya's contract will soon end, and there might be a genuine chance of the 42-year-old star opting for a change of scenery.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has offered Natalya a new deal. However, she has yet to put pen to paper.
"Regarding Natalya, whose deal is up soon, nothing has changed. Her deal is coming due soon, and she hasn't signed the new offered deal," Meltzer stated.
While WWE and the veteran star are still in talks, the fact that she hasn't re-signed could indicate her interest in exploring other options.
Natalya is passionate about training wrestlers at Dungeon 2.0 but still has a lot left in the tank as an active performer. Whether her in-ring career continues in WWE or elsewhere will soon be known.
#2. AEW is interested in Chad Gable
While WWE has already locked down a few top names for new deals, the likes of Natalya and Chad Gable have still not made any commitments about their long-term futures.
Regarding Gable, it's being reported that AEW is legitimately interested in signing the Alpha Academy leader. At this point, Tony Khan and his team can't make a play for Chad Gable, as he is still under contract.
Sources within AEW claimed that many people have been pushing for Gable's arrival. However, it would depend on the star's choice.
The former NXT star is in the midst of his best-ever spell. Chad Gable's heel turn has revitalized his career, and even though AEW might love to have him, the 38-year-old star would lean towards continuing working under Triple H.
#3. Arn Anderson comments on the possibility of returning as Cody Rhodes' manager
Following Cody Rhodes' recent comments about potentially scouting an "old school" wrestling manager, many felt Arn Anderson was the ideal man for the job.
"The Enforcer" recently wrapped up with Tony Khan's promotion, where he had been since the beginning, and spent some great time with the current Undisputed WWE Champion.
Arn Anderson flanked The American Nightmare in AEW, and Cody Rhodes has always spoken glowingly about their time together. During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Anderson appreciated Rhodes' praise and addressed a reunion.
The 65-year-old admitted that his time was running out and seemed split on the idea of accompanying Cody Rhodes for a brief period on WWE TV.
"Well, in case you don't know, I am 65, and my liver is 127. I am on short time, and I don't have a lot of time. Would I come back in the right situation for a short-term something with Cody? If anybody out there thinks it's a good idea, let me know. I don't know,'' he said. [H/T: Sescoops]
It will be interesting to see if Arn Anderson makes a return to the Stamford-based promotion in the future.
