WWE News & Rumor Roundup: Former Women's Champion has decided to retire, Triple H comments on top star's exit, Charlotte Flair's heartfelt message
Greetings and welcome to yet another edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling's WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today, we will cover some exciting topics related to top names like the former WWE Champion, Bobby Lashley, Triple H, and Charlotte Flair.
There have been rumors circulating that former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley might be done with the company. As per reports, The All Mighty has not re-signed with the company and is not expected to return. A report also suggested that Lashley and MVP could be looking to re-form The Hurt Business in AEW. Apart from that, we will also take a look at a legendary name's retirement.
1) Triple H comments on Bobby Lashley's WWE exit
With their contracts reportedly nearing expiration, Bobby Lashley and MVP were removed from WWE's internal roster. During an interview with the Daily Mail in London, Triple H addressed this while attending an important meeting with Mayor Sadiq Khan. The Game stated that it is a routine procedure for talent to be let go:
“No [there isn't an update on rumored departures]. Just like any sport, any business, we sign talent, talent contract runs out, we release talent. It’s just part of the process, so it’s an ongoing thing,” Triple H said.
Bobby Lashley has had a tepid run with WWE lately. The former world champion was part of a faction with The Street Profits but they were restricted to mid-card feuds. MVP had earlier stated that Triple H had rejected the idea of re-forming The Hurt Business.
2) Charlotte Flair's heartfelt message for her fans
The Queen, Charlotte Flair, has been sidelined for the entire year due to an injury sustained in December 2023. She tore her meniscus, MCL, and ACL, and has been focused on her recovery ever since. There are rumors that she might return at SummerSlam, as the timeline for her recovery was earlier estimated to be around six to nine months.
The multi-time former champion posted on her social media, saying that she missed all her fans:
''Thank you for all the love on the last post. Miss you all," she wrote.
Charlotte Flair's absence has been felt as the women's division has been struggling on SmackDown. Bayley is set to face Nia Jax for the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam. It would be interesting if the former multi-time champion finally makes her return to confront Bayley or Jax after the title match.
1) Former UK Women's Champion Meiko Satomura to retire
As per Tokyo Sports, sources close to the 44-year-old legend, Meiko Satomura indicate that she plans to retire from professional wrestling in 2025. Although the official date for her final match has not yet been determined, the upcoming 30-year anniversary of her in-ring debut in April has led to speculation that spring may be the potential timeframe for her retirement.
The legendary name who held the NXT UK Women's Championship for 451 days is now set to face WWE Women's Champion, Bayley at an upcoming live event in Tokyo. With John Cena already announcing his retirement in 2025, next year looks to be one of heavy goodbyes for the fans.
