WWE News & Rumor Roundup - Star confirms he is dating Dakota Kai, Omos reacts to concerning report, former champion's contract ends
We're back with another edition of the roundup and as always, there are some big stories from in and around the WWE doing the rounds. Dakota Kai and a superstar finally went public with their relationship, with the latter posting an adorable photo.
Amid his longtime absence, Omos responded to recent rumors about his status with a pretty interesting statement.
We ended the roundup with an update that might disappoint a few WWE fans as a legendary star's contract has ended. On that note, here are the top news and rumors of the day:
#1. Eddy Thorpe is dating Dakota Kai
And WWE has another lovely couple! NXT star Eddy Thorpe recently took to Instagram and shared a photo with Dakota Kai, confirming that they were indeed dating.
As one of the most well-known female stars on the main roster, Dakota Kai's personal life has always been the focus of attention. She has enjoyed a great run since re-signing with WWE and joining the Damage CTRL stable in 2022.
While her in-ring career is progressing steadily, Kai has seemingly also found a loving partner in Eddy Thorpe, who has been with the company since 2023.
The former NJPW star has since been in NXT and, on the occasion of his 34th birthday, shared a heartfelt post in which one of them had him charmingly planting a kiss on Dakota's cheek.
Kai and Thorpe are the latest WWE couple to join a long list, and Sportskeeda sends them their best wishes following the public confirmation.
#2. Omos reacts to claim that WWE has given up on him
It should be hard to ignore a 7-foot-3 giant, but the creative team seems to be doing just that with Omos.
The 30-year-old has not been seen on TV since April following the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. A report from Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claimed that company officials had essentially "given up" on Omos.
That, however, doesn't look to be the case, as the former RAW Tag Team Champion fired back with the following reply:
"Journalism has turned into National Inquirer 😂," Omos tweeted.
He might not have anything going on creatively, but based on his post, Omos is clearly nowhere close to being done with the company.
#3. Beth Phoenix update
As reported by PWInsider, Beth Phoenix is no longer under a WWE contract. News of such magnitude would lead to speculation about a potential move to AEW, and Fightful provided some updates.
While her appearance for AEW was discussed backstage, Fightful could not confirm whether there had been talks between both sides. It was additionally noted that despite the 43-year-old legend not being able to use the "Phoenix" moniker, she could still utilize her legal first name, "Beth."
A source also confirmed that if Beth Phoenix somehow arrives in AEW, it won't be until her husband, Adam Copeland, recuperates and returns after his injury layoff. Despite her age, the former Women's and Divas Champion is still in phenomenal shape and could wrestle at All Elite Wrestling or any other company if she desires.
For now, Phoenix is done with WWE, and while there are many ways for her to debut in AEW, we should all wait for her next big move.
