WWE News: Rusev and Aiden English added to Clash of Champions Tag-Team Championship match
What's the story?
Recently the WWE announced that The New Day, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin and current SmackDown LIVE Tag-Team Champions The Usos would do battle in a Triple Threat match for the titles at Clash of Champions. However, Rusev and Aiden English have been added to the match following a victory over The New Day on SmackDown LIVE.
In case you didn't know...
Ever since The Usos beat The New Day inside the Hell in a Cell structure, the tag-teams of SmackDown have been competing in a series of unpredictable matches.
First Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin became #1 contenders; then, The New Day beat them to earn a spot at Clash of Champions, and now a new tag-team has beaten The New Day to get added to the match as well.
The heart of the matter
Kofi Kingston and Big E stepped into the ring to take on Rusev and 'The Drama King' Aiden English on this week's SmackDown LIVE, in a match that had been brewing ever since Rusev and English attacked The New Day during their Lumberjack match against Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
The finish came when Rusev knocked Kofi off the ropes, in part thanks to a distraction from English, allowing him to get a clean victory over the former tag-team champs with a vicious kick to the back of Kingston's head.
What's next?
Clash of Champions now boasts a Fatal Fourway match for the SmackDown LIVE Tag-Team Titles, and, honestly, any one of the four teams could emerge from the pay-per-view as the championship holders.
The question is: for how long? As the Bludgeon Brothers are tearing through the competition on SmackDown LIVE and it surely won't be too long until the dominant tag-team are vying for the titles.
Author's take
At last Rusev and Aiden English are getting the recognition they deserve. I for one am elated. The WWE Universe is understandably elated, and I'm sure Rusev and Aiden English are both elated.
