WWE News: Rusev Day calendars sell out quicker than expected
What's the story?
You may remember from a few weeks ago that there was a surprise top seller on WWE's official shop - Rusev's "Happy Rusev Day" t-shirt.
Well, the Bulgarian Brute has proved once again that he's one of the most over superstars in WWE today, as his Rusev Day calendars have now sold out much quicker than expected.
In case you didn't know...
Rusev first came into WWE as a major heel on a crazy undefeated streak, even having an incredible peak where Rusev faced John Cena at WrestleMania and made his entrance in a tank.
Rusev doesn't seem to be someone who needs a mouthpiece, but a shaky few months where Lana wasn't by his side and some pretty indifferent booking meant that things weren't looking good for the former United States Champion.
After being paired with Aiden English, no-one could have expected what would come next - the pair have undoubtedly gotten themselves over with "Rusev Day" chants peppering the Royal Rumble at every available opportunity and the WWE Universe clamouring for The Bulgarian Brute to become a babyface.
The heart of the matter
Well, after the 'Happy Rusev Day' t-shirt became the #1 best seller for WWE, a stroke of genius saw a Rusev Day calendar being released.
Sean Ross confirmed that an initial 2500 calendars sold out in a matter of weeks after their release and WWE has since ordered 5000 more. Ross is also the man responsible for breaking the news of their original release.
Someone even replied to the tweet, saying they sold quicker since a leak online meant they got made quicker.
Finally, the man himself proved again that he's the king of social media by replying in true Rusev style.
What's next?
Well, Rusev has a United States Championship opportunity tonight after winning a number one contender's Fatal 4-Way Match last week. He faces Bobby Roode on SmackDown Live.
Author's take
It's great to see both Rusev and Aiden English get themselves over and essentially make lemonade from lemons after being paired together.
Many thought the departure of English's Vaudevillian partner Simon Gotch would be the end of his WWE run, too, but his incredible singing merged with the comedic value Rusev can add, has made them one of the most over "tag teams" in WWE today.
