If John Cena can, why can't Rusev

What’s the story?

Rusev has taken to social media so as to assert his desire of wrestling on RAW. In fact, Rusev stated that he’d love to work on both brands like his former rival John Cena—

In case you didn’t know…

John Cena is presently the only in-ring competitor in the WWE to function as a ‘free agent’ in the WWE; wrestling on both major brands i.e. Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live.

On the other hand, Rusev, who currently wrestles only on the SmackDown brand, has always been vocal about his desires and grievances with management on social media.

The heart of the matter

Over the past few weeks, Rusev’s popularity has significantly grown, ever since he’s been teamed up with ‘The Drama King’ Aiden English.

With ‘Rusev Day’ chants echoing through every arena the Bulgarian Brute wrestles in, both professional wrestling fans and critics alike have been clamouring for the WWE to accord Rusev a bigger push.

The latest in line of his social media exploits is Rusev’s new demand that if John Cena is allowed to wrestle on both the RAW and SmackDown brands, so should he.

What’s next?

Rusev & Aiden English presently compete as a team on the WWE’s SmackDown Live brand.

On the other hand, John Cena—despite being busy with his Hollywood obligations—wrestles a part-time schedule on the WWE’s RAW and SmackDown brands.

Author’s take

Honestly speaking, Rusev does have a point, however, one ought to note that as revealed by John Cena in several past interviews, the primary reason behind the latter wrestling on both RAW and SmackDown is that the leader of the Cenation feels that he’s on borrowed time as a professional wrestler.

Nevertheless, with that being said, Rusev is considerably ‘over’ with the WWE Universe right now, and the promotion should indeed accord him a major push in 2018, so as to capitalize on his momentum.
