WWE News: Ryback on Rich Swann being fired by WWE, Dolph Ziggler earning millions, more
What’s the story?
On a recent edition of his podcast, Conversation With The Big Guy, Ryback opened up on a myriad of topics.
Ryback weighed in on the ongoing banter regarding Dolph Ziggler making about $1.5 million per year, after reportedly signing a new 2-year contract with the WWE. Besides, Ryback also chimed in with his two cents on Rich Swann being fired from the WWE.
In case you didn’t know…
Ryback performed for the WWE from 2004 until his departure from the promotion in 2016. However, despite having parted ways with WWE a couple of years ago, “The Big Guy” continues to perform on the indie circuit while offering his critique of today’s WWE product.
The professional wrestling community has lately been abuzz with rumors of Dolph Ziggler signing a new lucrative deal with the company. Meanwhile, yet another hot topic of debate over the past several weeks has been that of Rich Swann being fired by the WWE.
The heart of the matter
Ryback explained that contrary to what most fans believe, Dolph Ziggler is, in fact, well-respected in the WWE—both backstage as well as in front of the camera. Ryback added that most fans & experts analyzing the WWE from the outside have no clue as to what’s really going on in the company.
Additionally, Ryback elucidated that considering how he’s no longer a part of the WWE, he doesn’t talk to Ziggler about things such as the latter’s WWE pay. Ryback continued that Ziggler alluding that he’s being paid $1.5 million per year maybe, however, if the rumors are true, he’s indeed happy for Ziggler.
Furthermore, Ryback also addressed Rich Swann getting fired from the WWE, owing to a domestic dispute Swann had with his wife indie wrestler Su Yung (real name—Vannarah Riggs)—
"Unfortunate for Rich Swann that he was released, but the domestic dispute charges were dropped I believe. Once a story comes out, he is one of those where there may never be another chance again, or they may bring him back in another year. It is an unfortunate situation, but it is what it is."
What’s next?
Dolph Ziggler is set to compete in the 6-Pack Challenge for the WWE Championship against 5 other Superstars namely John Cena, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin & WWE Champion AJ Styles.
The match takes place at tonight’s Fastlane PPV, following which, Ziggler is expected to compete in a Singles Match against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34 on April 8th. Meanwhile, Rich Swann presently competes on the indie circuit, however, has insinuated that he intends to quit pro-wrestling altogether.
Author’s take
Ryback is spot-on in his analysis of Dolph Ziggler teasing fans after his financially lucrative, albeit rumored, new deal with WWE.
Ziggler is great at working the fans, and truly understands the very pulse of the professional wrestling community.
On the other hand, Rich Swann’s situation could see the man either fade away or reemerge stronger from the entire experience he and Su Yung have been through since their alleged domestic dispute in late-2017.
