WWE News: Ryback comments on John Cena's possible retirement
What's the story?
The Domenick Nati Show had Ryback as a guest on their latest edition which was released today.
One topic 'The Big Guy' spoke about was John Cena possibly retiring from WWE to go on to acting.
In case you didn't know...
Ryback, a former WWE Superstar, is known for being an outspoken guy. Nothing gets more discussion from Ryback than his opinions or 'stories' about Top WWE Superstar John Cena.
At the Raw PPV No Mercy last month, John Cena teased WWE retirement after his loss against Roman Reigns. Although it is widely believed that this was probably not the last we have seen from Cena in a WWE ring, the moment did, however, put the possibility of his eventual retirement into the minds of the WWE Universe though. This is especially because of Cena's continued Hollywood commitments and aspirations.
Ryback is currently wrestling on the indies since leaving WWE last year, but he likes to still talk about his time with the company on his own podcast, Conversations' with The Big Guy.
Ryback is often criticized for what listeners believe to be his sometimes dishonest remarks.
The heart of the matter
During an interview with The Domenick Nati Show, Ryback was asked about his thoughts on John Cena's potential retirement.
Ryback said that the 40-year-old Cena's easier WWE schedule (at the moment) is because of the 'fortunate' opportunities outside WWE being more suitable for you after doing it full-time for so long. Hence, he believes Cena can go on with the WWE with his current light schedule.
Ryback thinks that Cena's decreasing presence in WWE is good news because it means other Superstars will now have the chance to 'succeed time and time again' which they didn't have before because of Cena having the top spot in WWE.
What's next?
John Cena was being rumoured to come back to WWE as soon as Survivor Series. However, it is now being said that he won't be returning to the company for at least the rest of 2017 due to filming commitments.
Ryback will continue to wrestle on the independents for the foreseeable future, however, Ryback also stated during the show that he could see himself acting in years to come as well.
Author's take
Sometimes Ryback is not always correct, however, I do believe in this case he is right.
For years, WWE's constant pushing of Cena derailed the momentum of others. For example Rusev, Bray Wyatt and arguably Ryback himself.
So now that Cena is not with them all the time now, it gives another man or woman the chance to make himself a star with WWE like Roman Reigns.
I do believe that Cena will be with WWE again for years to come, but his schedule will become sporadic as time goes by. Cena is going to be able to rejuvenate his body whilst he takes time off from wrestling, and 'Big Match' John can come back better than ever when he does return.
