WWE News: Sami Zayn receives humanitarian award
What’s the story?
Sami Zayn has taken to social media to reveal that he’s received a humanitarian award.
The professional wrestling community has been set abuzz regarding the high honor accorded to Zayn with several fans heaping praise on “The Underdog from the Underground”.
In case you didn’t know…
As we had previously reported, Zayn has been actively helping garner and allocate funds toward the cause of establishing medical clinics and enabling civilians in the war-struck region to access requisite healthcare.
In fact, Zayn had raised several thousand dollars—the proceeds of which are entirely allocated to ‘Sami for Syria’—a charitable organization which commenced functioning in July of last year, and aims at providing assistance to people in the war-torn nation of Syria.
The heart of the matter
Sami Zayn took to his official Instagram account and sent out a photograph of himself receiving a humanitarian award from SAMS USA.
SAMS (Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders) is a charitable organization that helps people in several parts of the world—with its primary focus being on the betterment of living conditions & socio-economic conditions of the poverty-stricken & discriminated segments of the human population.
What’s next?
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens, vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. (Champion) AJ Styles—a Fatal 5-Way Match for the WWE Championship—takes place at the SmackDown-brand exclusive Fastlane PPV on March 11th.
Zayn is expected to continue his friend-turned-foe angle with Owens over the next few weeks on SmackDown Live.
Author’s take
Kudos to Sami Zayn for contributing to a noble cause as such.
While Zayn may be portraying a villainous character on-screen, the man formerly known as El Generico in the indies, certainly is a kind-hearted lad in real life.
