WWE News: Sami Zayn smashed a fan with the announce table on SmackDown Live

We
We're sure this was an accident, right?

What's the story?

Everyone has their favourite place to get tickets for a pro wrestling show. Some people prefer to sit in the bleachers so they can get a good view of the entire ring but others prefer to sit right at ringside and the extra money it entails is no big deal considering the enhanced experience it provides.

But one fan who was in the ringside seats for SmackDown Live got way more than his money's worth when Sami Zayn popped him in the face with a piece of the announce table.

In case you didn't know...

Whenever a WWE Superstar is preparing a spot through the announce table, it's always a good idea to clean it off first. This means they need to clear off the outer covering and the monitors as well as make sure anything that can stab their opponent, such as a pencil, is removed for safety reasons. It didn't take Superstars very long to figure out they needed to do this because announce tables hurt enough without the added obstacles.

The heart of the matter

Kevin Owens and Shinsuke Nakamura were deep into their match on SmackDown Live to determine who would go on to Survivor Series as the next member of Team SmackDown. But Kevin Owens wanted to make sure he won; therefore, he ordered his newly reunited best friend, Sami Zayn, to clean off the announce table.

As it turns out, Zayn would be the one going through the announce table when Randy Orton jumped the barricade from the crowd and sent The Underdog From The Underground smashing onto the table via a suplex. But some fans might have missed the zeal Zayn put into clearing off the table.

Although it was certainly inadvertent, Zayn tossed the top of the announce table so hard it ended up smashing one fan in the face as they stood at their high-priced seat on the front row. It was a great reminder that you never know what can happen in WWE. Especially if you spring for the top dollar seats.

What's next?

Hopefully, the next time Sami Zayn cleans off a table he won't put so much oomph to it. But there are bound to be other mishaps like this to come. We can only assume this fan got a nice little care package from WWE for taking this unexpected bump.

Author's take

This isn't the first time a fan has been hit with a foreign object during a spot on television. If you remember when Brock Lesnar tore a car apart and a fan met the wrong end of The Beast Incarnate tossing a car part across the arena then you know what I'm talking about.

I'm surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often to be honest. This is why I like to sit on the hard camera side in the lower level of the stands whenever I attend live shows because there's less of a chance you'll be the victim of friendly fire.
