What’s the story?

In a recent appearance on Busted Open, Samoa Joe opened up on a myriad of topics.

Joe asserted that he’s indeed disappointed to have missed out on competing at WrestleMania two times in a row. Besides, Joe also spoke about WrestleMania week and the community visits one gets to partake in as a WWE Superstar during ‘Mania week.

In case you didn’t know…

Samoa Joe rose to prominence during his time in TNA (now Impact Wrestling), and after having performed for the promotion for about a decade, Joe transitioned to NXT.

Joe held the NXT Championship twice, before making his WWE main roster debut in January of last year.

Nevertheless, Joe’s main roster run has been riddled with multiple injury issues, which caused him to miss out on performing at WrestleMania 33 last April, as well as WrestleMania 34 earlier this month.

The heart of the matter

Samoa Joe expounded upon missing WrestleMania twice in a row; stating—

"I think anybody is always upset at that proposition. WrestleMania was a big day for us, and for our industry, and anytime the Super Bowl is on you want to be playing, so sitting on the bench, especially when you are ready to run, it is a tough go, but you deal with it the best way that I can."

Furthermore, Joe elucidated that one of the best things about WrestleMania weekend, is the opportunity of participating in community visits, which in turn enables WWE Superstars to encourage local youth and guide the youngsters toward a better future.

Joe explained that WWE Superstars get to visit several charitable organizations, for instance, 'Son of a Saint', that help young men without fathers meet older individuals who act as mentors and father figures in the youngsters’ lives.

Joe added that if he’s able to influence the kids in a positive way, he’s a very fortunate individual.

What’s next?

On the most recent episode of Monday Night RAW, Samoa Joe revealed that after Roman Reigns is done feuding with WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV, Joe will be waiting to compete against Reigns at Backlash.

After Reigns faces Lesnar at the aforementioned PPV this April 27th, 'The Big Dog' is scheduled to compete against Joe at Backlash on May 6th.

Author’s take

Kudos to Samoa Joe for giving back to the community, and spreading a positive message by making optimum use of the public platform accorded to him as a WWE Superstar.

Besides, here’s hoping this talented Superstar finally gets his chance to perform at WrestleMania next year.
