WWE News: Sasha Banks discusses Eddie Gurrero's influence on her, hardest part of being in the WWE and more

Sasha Banks recently won back the WWE Raw Women’s title from Charlotte Flair

On the latest episode of Raw, Sasha Banks was crowned the red brand’s Women’s Champion after she defeated Charlotte Flair in a ‘falls count anywhere’ match. This brought an end to a long rivalry between the two female superstars which also saw them compete in a ‘Hell in a Cell’ match.

Banks recently appeared on an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, where she discussed a number of things including how Eddie Gurrero influenced her and the misconception people have about the WWE being fake.

About Gurrero, she claimed that he was her idol and she wouldn’t have been where she is now had it not been for the former WWE great. ‘The Boss’ wished that she could have thanked him if she ever met him.

Sasha said, “There wouldn't be Sasha Banks if there wasn't Eddie Guerrero, he was truly my idol. I still look up to him to this day. Everything I do in the ring, I think 'would Eddie do that? Would Eddie be proud of me?' And if I got to meet him I would just tell him thank you.

He changed my life and I would not be the person I am today if I never saw him wrestle the first time I did.”

WWE Raw Women’s Champion also asked about what she thinks is the biggest misconception that people have regarding the WWE. According to her, the fact that most of them consider the happenings in the business to be fake when they are actually not.

“I think the biggest misconception is that -- I don't know, that I guess people think it's fake. When it's not, I get beat up every single week, I go home with bruises, always banged up, but it's something that I love so much that I just I always keep pushing, it's what I love,” stated Banks.

She added, “People think that -- I hate that, I hate that people think it's fake but if they got in the ring and they took a bump like we do every single week, legit travel like we travel every single week they would so appreciate everything we did.”

On what she thought was the hardest part of being in the WWE, the former NXT Women’s Champion said that not being in touch with her family was difficult. However, she was content that they were able to see her on TV every week.

“Barely seeing my family. I am home maybe two days a week and I only see my mom maybe twice a year, my brother twice a year, and that is the hardest thing about being in the WWE is not seeing your family. But knowing that they get to see you on TV every single week living your dream, so it's okay,” said Sasha Banks.
