WWE News: Sasha Banks named rivals as the perfect team to win Women's Tag Team Championships
What's the story?
Sasha Banks struggled with an injury earlier this year that could have cost her the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships along with Bayley, which is why The Boss already had a plan when it came to naming another team to lift the gold.
In case you didn't know...
Sasha Banks and Bayley pushed for months for the Women's Tag Team Championships to become a reality ahead of Elimination Chamber, and when they were qualifying for the Chamber match, Banks couldn't play a huge role in events because she wasn't cleared for competition.
Banks and Bayley were still able to compete inside Satan's Structure back in February, but just in case they weren't able to make the match, Banks had already pitched the team that she wanted to lift the titles instead.
The heart of the matter
The Boss "N" Hug Connection defend the Women's Tag Team Championships in just over a week at WrestleMania against The IIconics, Nia Jax and Tamina, and The Divas of Doom, and interestingly in a recent interview with Sky Sports, Banks admitted that when she believed that she may not be able to lift the titles, she named the IIconics as the perfect team to win them instead.
"For me, I would've said The IIconics, although they're still quite brand new, they're amazing though, they're really incredible. And they've had the dream to be WWE tag-team champions since they were kids too. They seem like a real team too and if it wasn't us then I'd like to have seen them have it. Hopefully, we can have some good matches with them."
What's next?
The IIconics have their chance to dethrone Banks and Bayley next Sunday night at WrestleMania as they battle it out in a fatal four-way for the Women's Tag Team Championships.
