WWE News: Sasha Banks says the reason she got into pro wrestling is because of Eddie Guerrero
The former WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks was recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated. Banks, who is currently sidelined from the main roster due to a back injury, stated that she has achieved a lot in her WWE career in a short span of time.
The former NXT Women’s Champion also believes that a WWE superstar shouldn’t be selfish for a good career :
“I’ve only been in WWE for three years, and this is only my first year on the main roster. But I’ve made noise from NXT Takeover last year to Summerslam this year. Patience is key. You can’t get selfish, and that’s the number one thing I’ve learned at WWE. The world continues to go round, and I just knew–given the right opportunity and the right moment–that the world would know I was good, but now the world knows that I’m great.”
All the success she has achieved in WWE, compiles to a dream career for any Superstar. But, the Legit Boss feels that she has much more to accomplish :
“I’ve accomplished so many of my dreams already, but main-eventing WrestleMania is a dream. Also, I want to be on the cover of the 2K game next year–bye bye, Brock. The sky is the limit, and there is no limit to my dreams.”
Sasha Banks was involved in a triple threat match for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. She had a grand entrance at the event and was accompanied by her cousin, WWE Hall of Famer, Snoop Dogg. Her attire was a tribute to the late, former WWE Champion, Eddie Guerrero. In this interview, Banks said that Guerrero inspired her to be in the wrestling industry :
“Eddie Guerrero is my number one. He is the reason I am in the WWE. I wanted to be the female version of him.”
She witnessed the Latino Heat to become World Champion by defeating Brock Lesnar. According to Banks, this moment generated the urge to be a wrestler, herself.
Sasha often uses the ‘Frog Splash’ manoeuvre as a tribute to the Hall of Famer.
During the Women’s Championship match on RAW, Banks reenacted one of the signature acts of Eddie Guerrero. She provoked Charlotte’s manager, Dana Brooke and thre the Championship belt to her. The very next moment, she was lying on the floor, acting to be hurt and the referee assumed that Brooke used the belt to attack the #1 contender. Eventually, Dana was sent backstage and Sasha went on to win the match and the Women’s Championship.
