WWE News: Sasha Banks talks about her relationship with Vince McMahon and wanting women to main event house shows
What’s the story?
During a recent interview with Al Arabiya English, former Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks spoke about working with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and being more direct with him.
Banks also talked about why she thinks women should be on the main event of WWE house shows more often and why it should be a normal thing.
In case you didn’t know…
During her tenure with the WWE so far, The Boss has had a total of five championship reigns in the company, being a four-time Raw Women’s Champion and one-time NXT Women’s Champion.
Banks, who made her WWE debut in 2012, is also the first ever female superstar to compete in a Hell in a Cell match and is also the first woman to main event an episode of Monday Night Raw since 2004.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with Al Arabiya English, Banks spoke about a host of wrestling related topics. Here are a few highlights:
On women being the main event for house shows:
Banks first weighed in on the fact that the women of WWE are yet to main event a house show promoted by the company, as she stated that the female Superstars of the company are totally capable of main-eventing live events, much like their male counterparts.
Banks added that she wants this trend to be a normal thing and wants the WWE’s women superstars to the main event on a rather regular basis.
"I watch guys like Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman have these crazy street fights every night at house shows. I ask them, how do you go through a table every single night? That's what I want! I want to do it just like them, I want to perform just like them, and I want it to be a place where." - she stated.
On working alongside Vince McMahon:
Banks said that getting comfortable around Mr. McMahon comes with becoming more mature and eventually becoming a woman.
The former Raw Women’s Champion added that she has learned that it is actually very easy to talk and interact with The Chairman and also claimed that it is actually better for her to talk to him, rather than talking to the writers.
"You have this more comfortable feeling of, 'Okay, you work for the boss, you work for the man, a legend, Vince McMahon, but hey, you're the Legit Boss, so you better go through that door, tell him what you'd like to do and what you'd like to have."
What’s next?
It looks like WWE are currently heading towards a possible feud between Bayley and Banks. The two former Raw Women Champions have previously lined-up some absolute classic matches during their time in NXT, for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Author’s take
I think the women of WWE have broken almost every barrier with the recently concluded first ever Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber and I think it is just a matter of time before the female stars main event a live event.
