WWE News: Sawyer Fulton reacts to NXT release
What's the story?
Former NXT wrestler Sawyer Fulton took to Twitter following his release from NXT, saying he's "not ashamed" of his release from WWE's developmental program.
In case you didn't know...
Fulton was released from WWE today (November 3rd, 2017). He was in NXT for five years, mostly serving as an enhancement talent.
It seemed like Fulton caught a break in his career when he joined Sanity in 2016, but was kicked out of the group after failing to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Alexander Wolfe, and was replaced by Killian Dane.
The heart of the matter
Following his release, Fulton (real name Jacob Southwick) issued a statement on Twitter.
Fulton talked about how he was trying to come back from an injury, but just couldn't get over the hump. Despite the release, Fulton seemed upbeat about his future.
"I'm not ashamed of being released by any means, I held nothing back and at the end of the day, I'm happy to leave with my head held high. I'm going to continue to work hard as possible and learn all I can in wrestling, nothing changes but the name."
What's next?
Fulton is now a free agent, meaning he can wrestle anywhere he'd like to.
Author's Take
It seems that Fulton is taking this release in stride, which is good. I think a lot of people forget he was an original member of Sanity, as his departure came within a few months of his arrival to the group. It'll be intriguing to see what he does in his post-NXT life.
He's only 27, so there's tons of time for him to work his way back to WWE if he wants to get back there.
