WWE News: Seth Rollins admits to almost walking out of WWE
What's the story?
Former WWE Champion, Seth Rollins was recently a guest on the E&C Podcast where he was in conversation with WWE legends Edge and Christian.
During the interview, Rollins spoke about a host of interesting topics, including a very fascinating incident he had with WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon.
In case you didn't know...
Seth Rollins signed with the contract with the WWE in 2010 and immediately started out in WWE's developmental territory FCW before being eventually moved up to NXT where he became the inaugural NXT Champion.
Moving up to the main roster in 2012, Rollins along with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns formed the menacing trio known as The Shield and for the next few years, 'The Hounds of Justice' dominated the entire WWE.
Since breaking up with 2014, all three members of The Shield have been highly successful as singles superstars with all three men winning the WWE Championship and becoming a Grand Slam Champion as well.
The heart of the matter
While speaking with Edge and Christian on their podcast, Seth Rollins recalled a very interesting match of his against Kofi Kingston from SmackDown back in 2014, prior to it being live on the USA Network.
As per Rollins' claim, WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon apparently wanted 'The Architect of The Shield' to have a quick match with Kingston and eventually squash him to win the bout. However, due to having the utmost respect for his opponent, Rollins went against the decision and eventually got into hot water with the WWE boss. (H/T: SEScoops)
“I remember coming to the back thinking, ‘Okay that was alright.’ Vince was just furious about it — furious.”
Rollins continued by claiming that McMahon was absolutely furious with the former's decision and this is what the WWE Chairman said to the 2019 Rumble winner:
"'If you’re gonna be my guy, if you’re gonna be my guy that’s not what I want!’ And he shoo’ed me out of Gorilla [Position] and I didn’t understand.”
Rollins initially didn't understand McMahon's frustrations but after being explained by Michael PS Hayes, the former member of The Shield noted that he was absolutely embarrassed and seemingly wanted to walk out of the WWE right at that point.
“I remember the feeling when they told me that I was so angry and embarrassed I was ready to walk out and not do it. I was like, ‘Never in my life never. This should never happen to me!’”
What's next?
Seth Rollins is currently coming off a huge Royal Rumble win and is going to be challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at the upcoming WrestleMania 35 event.
