What's the story?

Seth Rollins was one of the members of The Shield that were in CM Punk's original vision but it appears that the man himself knew very little about his inclusion in the team.

In case you didn't know...

Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Kassius Ohno were all part of CM Punk's original plan for The Shield, which was going to be a rogue team that helped Punk as WWE Champion. WWE were struggling at the time and Punk saw all these hungry stars in NXT that he thought could make a difference.

Of course, WWE wanted Roman Reigns to be part of The Shield which meant that Ohno wasn't factored into the plans following the initial phase.

The heart of the matter

Seth Rollins recently appeared on Edge and Christian's E&C's Podcast of Awesomeness, where he was able to discuss the vision that CM Punk once had for The Hounds of Justice. [H/T Ringsidenews]

“What I think happened, it’s a little fuzzy to me because it was behind the scenes, weird stuff going on, Punk was looking to help turn the roster around.”
“He saw the main roster, he saw that there were some hungry guys in NXT that, sort of, came up the same way he did, and he also saw that there was a lot of complacency on the main roster at the time with a lot of the guys. Especially some of the younger guys were just there, just happy to be there. Not trying to get better every week, and not trying to dish storylines, not pushing the envelope for themselves and for the company, and it was starting to hurt the product overall.”
“So he wanted to get us in there, us being myself, and Ambrose, and I think, maybe, Kassius Ohno/Chris Hero, but I’m not sure. But the company loved Roman from the get-go, and for all the right reasons.”

What's next?

Seth Rollins is expected to be back on Monday Night Raw tonight as the build towards his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 continues.
