WWE News: Seth Rollins retains the Intercontinental Championship at The Greatest Royal Rumble
Earlier today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, ‘The Architect’ Seth Rollins made his first successful WWE Intercontinental Championship defense when he retained his championship belt in a brutal fatal-four way ladder match against Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, and former champion The Miz.
As noted, all four men showed an immense amount of athleticism during the contest and the match was filled with some brutal, yet amazing ladder bumps as well, as all four men laid it on the line in order to get possession of the Intercontinental Championship.
However, by the end of the contest it was Seth Rollins who successfully managed to retain his championship belt in spectacular fashion when he used the ropes to leap to the ladder, eventually unhooking the belt right in front of Finn Balor, who missed out on the opportunity to become the brand new Intercontinental Champion for the very first time in his career.
Rollins, who won the WWE IC Title at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans earlier in the month, will now presumably look to continue his feud with former Universal Champion Finn Balor, with whom Rollins has a lot of history with and with both Miz and Samoa Joe jumping ship to Smackdown Live, we can certainly expect another lengthy IC Title feud between Balor and Rollins on the red brand.
Whereas getting back to the ladder match at The Greatest Royal Rumble, it was certainly a very highly entertaining affair between four of WWE’s top superstars right now and the match itself is highly recommendable and definitely worth checking out if you haven’t already.
