WWE News: Seth Rollins reveals that he pitched his WrestleMania Money in the Bank cash-in
What's the story?
Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract at WrestleMania 31 back in 2015 and was able to become World Champion for the first time, an idea which Rollins reportedly pitched to management the year before it came into fruition.
In case you didn't know...
Rollins was riding high as a heel for a number of months with the likes of Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, Kane, J&J Security and even Randy Orton by his side, which allowed him to push his name into the main event level of the company.
Roman Reigns wasn't getting the desired reaction from the WWE Universe following his Royal Rumble win earlier in the year, so it appears that WWE needed a backup plan and Rollins was the best that they had.
The heart of the matter
Rollins recently appeared on E&C's Podcast of Awesomeness, where he revealed that he was the man behind one of the biggest wins of his career.
“The crowd were doing what they were doing with Roman and I just saw this — felt this thing, this energy. I saw it coming. I knew they were gonna kinda take a dump on him when he won the Rumble and they did and I remember the next day and again having the conversation with Hunter again because I had pitched the idea near the end of the year before,” he said via Ringsidenews.
“I just wanted to remind him that I had his idea on the table and I think it’s a pretty good one. Even if it’s not the idea it could easily be a contingency plan if the main event of WrestleMania doesn’t go together how you see it. So even in the back of your head… yeah I pitched the idea and I strongly felt like it was a good one and I felt like I was the guy and again I went up to them and said ‘I want the ball,’ you know?”
What's next?
Seth Rollins is currently sidelined with a back injury and is expected to miss Elimination Chamber as a result.
