WWE News: Seth Rollins talks about meeting Chris Jericho as a fan
What's the story?
Seth Rollins wasn't always the Architect and Kingslayer we know him as today. There was a time when he was still a kid and a huge fan of professional wrestling. He participated in backyard wrestling and marked out just like a fanboy. Rollins recently spoke to TV Insider where he discussed the first time he met Chris Jericho.
In case you didn't know...
Chris Jericho has been a huge pro wrestling Superstar for a long time now. He has been looked up to as a master of his craft for over two decades and he keeps going.
Seth Rollins might seem like a veteran but it hasn't been long since the 31-year-old former Shield member was just a fan with aspirations of being in the ring. Therefore meeting one of his favourite WWE Superstars for the first time was still a big deal he'll never forget.
The heart of the matter
Seth Rollins covered several subjects with TV Insider including his career and the recent reunion with Dean Ambrose.
Rollins also told a rather amusing story about how a 16-year-old Architect met the Ayatollah Of Rock n' Rolla for the first time. The inaugural NXT Champion said that he barged in on the Fozzy frontman and showed him his backyard wrestling pictures.
“I was really bad at meeting wrestlers. I lived in a small town in Iowa. We didn’t have shows very often, so I didn’t get to meet many of the guys. Chris Jericho was really cool to me when I first met him. I was a 16-year-old kid who barged in on him because I wanted to show him my backyard wrestling pictures. He was very cool about it when he had no reason to be.”
What's next?
Chris Jericho is currently being a rock star with Fozzy but he has unfinished business in the ring. When he comes back, Kevin Owens should be cautious because their amazing feud could pick up where it left off.
Since Seth Rollins has advanced his career, he's gotten much better at meeting professional wrestlers. In fact, he calls them his co-workers now.
Both Chris Jericho and Seth Rollins are far from finished in the ring and who knows if fans could look forward to an angle between Jericho and Rollins down the line where this story is used as fuel for the fire?
Author's take
These kind of stories are my favourite. For some reason, I can't get enough of hearing tales about Superstars when they were fans. I guess it shows their passion for the business and assures me that they're a professional wrestler for the right reason. They don't just have a certain look and are u the business as nothing but a stepping stone to other things. They actually love pro wrestling.
It makes someone even more relatable too. It certainly illustrated Seth Rollins' desire to be a great professional wrestler because the crux of it had to do with promoting his indie efforts to Y2J.
