WWE News: Seth Rollins wants a match with The Rock at WrestleMania

What is The Architect's WrestleMania dream match?
What is The Architect's WrestleMania dream match?

What's the story?

Being in the main event of WrestleMania is the dream of... I dunno, let's say 98% of all pro wrestlers? That seems like a good number. But, that implies that said pro wrestlers aren't terribly picky about who their opponent is, as long as they close out the show.

While Seth Rollins technically closed out WrestleMania 31 with the WWE Championship above his head, he's got more specific plans for next year's show. If you smell what he's cooking.

In case you didn't know...

Seth Rollins entered WrestleMania 31 with the Money In The Bank contract and a mid-card match against Randy Orton.

He ended it by cashing in said contract during the Brock Lesnar/Roman Reigns WWE Championship match and leaving with the championship. Over the last two years, however, he missed WrestleMania 32 altogether with an injury, and took on Triple H the following year.

Now he's determined to headline the show properly, and he wants to do it with Hollywood's biggest star.

The heart of the matter

While WWE was in Delaware this weekend, Rollins did an interview on Salisbury's Delaware 105.9 FM and laid out his vision.

“Obviously ‘Rocky’ is a little busy these days doing some Hollywood things... If the opportunity came about I’d have no problem taking on The Rock at WrestleMania. I’m in the prime of my career right now... I’m ready to go”

Whether or not Rollins is planting the seeds for a potential match or if he's just having fun during a typical media appearance, a Rollins/Rock match certainly sounds intriguing.

It's also worth noting that this isn't the first time Rollins has mentioned taking on The Rock - although it is the first time he's mentioned the possibility of him taking on The Great One at WrestleMania

What's next?

While The Rock appearing at WrestleMania is always a possibility, he's not exactly sitting around his mansion waiting for his phone to ring.

As much fun as that match sounds like it could be, if Rocky's got a film to make, he's not going to be going anywhere near a ring, no matter who he'd be in there with.

Author's take

I'm probably in the minority, but I can't really muster up the energy to even pretend I want to see The Rock wrestle another match. Come out at WrestleMania and light your name on fire, sure. But please don't wrestle anymore.

Of course, knowing Rollins's track record, he'll probably end up needing to retire before the match is over.
