WWE News: Several new items banned from WrestleMania
What’s the story?
WWE recently sent out a letter to all those who have purchased WrestleMania tickets, informing fans of what they are not allowed to bring into any of the venues this year. All the usual things were a part of it, but it also featured four new items.
In case you didn’t know...
WWE usually send out the same email every year on venue restrictions, and it usually features the like of bottles, food, weapons and the rest of the usual prohibited items at any kind of show.
The RAW after WrestleMania audience, usually the loudest and most creative one of the year, have caused at least one new restriction. The after-Mania audience of WrestleMania 32 took over the venue and social media with a beach ball, that stole the thunder of Baron Corbin's RAW debut. While you could excuse this first time appearance of the beach ball, it has continued at other shows ever since, as recent as last week's RAW, and thus WWE have had to put an official stop to it.
The heart of the matter
The new additions to the list of banned items for WrestleMania week and every show after now include beach balls, balloons, iPads and tablets.
This is the first time that Ipads and tablets have been banned from WWE events.
Beach balls being banned comes in as a happy piece of news for WWE stars as they feel it takes away from their performance. RAW Tag Team Champion Cesaro noted in an interview last year that he felt very disrespected when this was done by the SummerSlam audience.
What’s next?
NXT TakeOver takes place on April 7th, WrestleMania is scheduled for April 8th; RAW and SmackDown take place on the 9th and 10th.
We will have to wait and see if any fans will be successful in sneaking in any beach balls. You can bet many will try.
Author’s take
Absolutely the right call on all these items. Beach balls and balloons do take attention away from the performers, which is highly disrespectful, and if you are going to spend time on iPads and tables, why be there in person at all?
