What's the story?

SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon used Twitter today to warn RAW that they would pay this Sunday at Survivor Series for ambushing SD Live last night and attacking multiple Blue Branded Superstars, including him.

The invasion by the Red Brand, led by The Shield and RAW GM Kurt Angle, took place when they interrupted SmackDown's main event last night, The New Day vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

In case you didn't know...

A few weeks ago, on October 23rd, SmackDown Live put RAW 'Under Siege' in attempt to get in the first strike before their multiple Brand vs. Brand matches at this Sunday's Survivor Series.

Led by Shane McMahon, SD Live Superstar's appeared on RAW and put its roster to waste, even making Kurt Angle, the General Manager of RAW, watch the brutal assault on his Superstars.

However, last night saw RAW's retaliation, when Kurt Angle, now the Captain of his Team for the 5-on-5 Men's Elimination Match against Team SmackDown Live at Survivor Series, and many other RAW Superstars including Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, The Shield and Finn Balor, wreaked havoc by savagely assaulting SmackDown Live's Superstars including McMahon, who was on the receiving end of two Triple Powerbombs from Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

Shane McMahon is the Captain of Team SmackDown for the men's bout at the PPV.

The heart of the matter

Shane-O-Mac claimed in his tweet that he 'wasn't surprised by RAW's last-minute strike'.

However, SmackDown Live's Commissioner promised not to take it lying down, telling RAW to 'expect a receipt' at Survivor Series.

What's next?

In the main event, we have the new SD Live WWE Champion AJ Styles taking on the WWE RAW Universal Champion Brock Lesnar

Shane McMahon, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, Randy Orton and the returning John Cena are on Team SmackDown vs. Team Raw's Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Samoa Joe and the also-returning Triple H in the 5-on-5 Elimination match.

The Women's 5-on-5 bout sees Team SmackDown's Becky Lynch (captain), Carmella, Naomi, Tamina and a TBD member take on Alicia Fox (captain), Nia Jax, Sasha Banks, the unbeaten Asuka and Bayley

The Shield vs. The New Day, Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte, Baron Corbin vs. The Miz and The Usos vs. Sheamus and Cesaro are also set for the show.

Author's take

The buzz surrounding this year's Survivor Series PPV got bigger when RAW got its revenge against SmackDown on the latter's go-home show heading into Sunday's event.

Shane McMahon brings intensity into every feud he's in, and intensity is one of Kurt Angle's three I's, and think these two guys have played a major role in making the 5-on-5 Men's Elimination match the most anticipated bout of the event, even when we have RAW Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and WWE Champion AJ Styles going at it in a Champion vs. Champion main event.

My heart is with Team SmackDown Live, but my head says WWE's creative will have Team RAW go over in the men and women's 5-on-5 contests.
