WWE News: Shane McMahon to captain SmackDown's Survivor Series Team
SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon will return to the ring at Survivor Series as the captain for the men’s team.
McMahon kicked off tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live by addressing their attack on the Raw roster and said that it was to make an emphatic statement about how the Blue Brand has always been viewed.
After talking about Stephanie McMahon’s decision to insert Raw General Manager Kurt Angle into the match and Kane attacking Daniel Bryan, Shane revealed that he would captain the men’s SmackDown Survivor Series Match and take Stephanie McMahon and Angle to task.
The current lineup for Raw’s Survivor Series team is currently Angle and Braun Strowman while the SmackDown team now comprises of Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura and Shane McMahon.
Angle and Shane competing in the match marks 16 years since they battled each other at their infamous match at King of the Ring 2001.
The last time both men were involved in a Survivor Series match was 2001 when they joined forces as The Alliance to take on Team WWF.
SmackDown has a history of winning matches when pitted against the Raw roster, but Angle’s general manager position being on the line in this men’s match could mean that the flagship show may emerge victorious at Survivor Series.
