WWE News: Big return for next week's SmackDown Live confirmed
What’s the story?
General Manager Daniel Bryan announced at the end of this week’s SmackDown Live that Commissioner Shane McMahon will return to the show next week.
In case you didn’t know...
Shane was last seen at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view when he faced off against Kevin Owens to avenge his father Vince McMahon; whom Owens assaulted in the weeks prior.
Shane lost the match against Owens when Sami Zayn interfered and pulled Owens out of the way from an elbow drop from the top of the Hell in a Cell to the announcer's table and pulled Owens on top of Shane to get the pinfall.
The heart of the matter
Bryan called out Sami Zayn at the start of SmackDown Live and Zayn continually antagonized Bryan regarding his retirement and his fan support.
Owens would come out and join in on the fun, but Bryan would retaliate by booking both men in a match against Shinsuke Nakamura and Randy Orton for the main event.
After Owens and Zayn defeated Nakamura and Orton, the two went backstage and asked Bryan what else he had in store for them, which lead to Bryan revealing that Shane would return next week on the Oct. 24 edition of SmackDown.
What’s next?
With Shane returning next week, there’s no way of knowing what will transpire as SmackDown prepares for Survivor Series.
Considering the upcoming pay-per-view, it’s possible that SmackDown host a Team Shane vs. Team Owens/Zayn traditional Survivor Series match, but that is pure speculation at this point.
Author’s take
Shane has plenty of reasons to be angry at Owens and Zayn and next week will be the beginning of what may become personal hell for the two best friends.
Because as Paul Heyman once said, you never win against a McMahon.
