WWE News: Shaq wants to wrestle Big Show at WrestleMania 33
Shaquille O’Neal hasn’t gotten his fill of a WWE ring yet, and he’s taking aim at the Big Show.
As reported by Wrestling Inc., Shaq – recently announced as a nominee for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame – initially called out the WWE superstar at WrestleMania 32. After a surprise appearance in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in which he faced off with the Big Show before both of them were eliminated by a group of superstars, Shaq was interviewed by Renee Young backstage.
“I’ve been wanting Big Show for years,” he told Young, also saying he would fight his fellow 7-footer “whenever, wherever.”
He continued to target “the World’s Largest Athlete” with his remarks later in the week on TNT’s “Inside the NBA.” On that program, he told his fellow hosts how special it was to perform at WrestleMania. It was not his first foray into WWE programming after a 2009 appearance on RAW, which also included a skirmish with the Big Show.
Shaq said he couldn’t turn down the McMahons’ request that he make a return to the WWE ring in Arlington, Texas,
“I’ve been a wrestling fan my whole life, so when they called me to do it, I had to do it,” he said.
He also put a date on his challenge to the Big Show – WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida, where Shaq made his rise to stardom with the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
“It’s going down next year in Orlando,” Shaq said.
