WWE News: Shawn Michaels and Road Dogg fill in for Triple H at NXT television tapings
What's the story?
NXT wouldn't be what it is today without Triple H. It was HHH's hard work and visionary tactics which carved the idea of a WWE Performance Center out of thin air. He crafted a marvellous WWE developmental territory in Florida with the intentions of training people how to be WWE Superstars.
However, Triple H was in India spreading the message about WWE's impending tour so he couldn't attend the most recent television taping. It's a good thing he has some really cool friends who can help out.
In case you didn't know...
Triple H has never missed an NXT taping, let alone a TakeOver. Thankfully there wasn't a TakeOver on Wednesday night but Triple H did have to miss an NXT television taping. It was a big set of shows too.
I mean, they announced a War Games match so it was a pretty big deal to miss for an old-school wrestling fan like Triple H.
The heart of the matter
Triple H might be having a great time in India, but he still missed taking part in an NXT television taping. After all, NXT is his baby and it couldn't have been easy to forfeit that event. But he had work to do and was happy to visit India, even though his thoughts were probably with his NXT family.
Triple H sent out the following message: "Gutted to miss my first NXT taping ever while in India but I have the best team in the world doing it... have a hell of a show!"
Road Dogg didn't waste much time before he replied to comfort his old friend and boss. It was good to see Road Dogg was holding the fort down alongside WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michael. Those two still look great working together after all these years.
What's next?
It's great to see Triple H can rely on his awesome friends to help out when he can't show up. It's also wonderful to see Michaels back in the wrestling business in some respect. Dogg never really left as he seemed to transition seamlessly into a backstage role.
However, Shawn Michaels took a considerable amount of time away from the wrestling business. Now that it appears HBK's been roped into even more NXT gigs the future of WWE's developmental territory looks even brighter than ever.
Author's take
WWE's upcoming tour of India is going to be a very big deal to make a good impression in a marketplace they really need to capitalize on. But Triple H's trip cost him the chance of running the show at an NXT taping.
Although it had to hurt, it gave us a chance to see what Road Dogg and the rest of the crew can do without Triple H. If you add in the fact HBK was there too, it makes things even better. So just keep that in mind during the next few weeks of NXT because the Heartbreak Kid and Road Dogg were just behind the curtain.
