WWE News: Shayna Baszler surprised by Ronda Rousey showing up at the Royal Rumble
What's the story?
NXT Superstar Shayna Baszler may be one of Ronda Rousey's closest friends, but even she was kept in the dark about Rousey's massive Royal Rumble appearance. The former MMA superstar revealed as much in the exclusive interview linked below.
Baszler felt that Rousey would be just as dominant in WWE as she's been everywhere else thus far. We thank 411Mania for the transcript.
In case you didn't know...
There was much speculation leading up to the Royal Rumble that Ronda Rousey would be a part of the actual Rumble match. So much so, that even Trish Stratus' appearance at Number 30 was met with mixed reactions from the WWE Universe.
When Rousey did not show up in the actual Royal Rumble match, it was assumed that her appearance was mere speculation. However, she did show up following the match, pointing at the WrestleMania 34 sign.
It turns out that almost everyone was kept in the dark about her special appearance!
The heart of the matter
Baszler revealed that she was just as shocked as everyone else, by Ronda Rousey's arrival:
I was just as surprised as everyone else, she kept that from all of us. Because, in her own words, she wanted us to feel the genuine excitement that the rest of the world felt. We worked hard to get where we’re at – all of us – so to see her genuinely happy and finally getting to soak in that reward is great.
Moreover, she expressed the utmost faith and confidence in Rousey's WWE future:
I’ve known Ronda for awhile and everything she decides to do she dives head-first one-hundred percent into. So, I have no doubt she’ll be just as dominant in WWE as she’s been at everything else.
What's next?
It remains to be seen when Ronda Rousey will show up next. It also remains to be seen what her next program will be. As the world watches with bated breath, WWE needs to make it really big.
Author's take
Ronda Rousey will certainly do well in WWE. All WWE needs to do is book her in compelling storylines, going ahead.
Good writing can make or break her WWE future.
