WWE News: Shayna Baszler teases NXT debut at tonight's tapings
What's the story?
NXT could see a promising debut at tonight's tapings. Former UFC fighter and finalist of the Mae Young Classic tournament Shayna Baszler has tweeted out an official WWE video of her first day in the Performance Center.
Although the video itself could hint at her appearing in the WWE soon, the caption could point out when and that could be as soon as tonight.
In case you didn't know...
The Queen of Spades first found herself in the spotlight as a contestant on the Ultimate Fighter.
However, her tenure in the UFC was short-lived following her losses to Amanda Nunes and Bethe Correia. Baszler then turned to professional wrestling in 2015 and began on the Independent circuit.
She even worked two events for World Wonder Ring Stardom during their American tour in Covina California. After her seemingly eye-catching performance in the Indies, the WWE soon came knocking and Baszler was brought on as one of the independent wrestlers to take part in the inaugural May Young Classic Tournament.
She ended up performing excellently in the tournament, reaching the finals and even turning heel in the process. The tournament was won by Kairi Sane.
The heart of the matter
Baszler's tweet was accompanied with a caption that read, "Everything changes now". This has led many to believe that the tweet could hint at an impending debut at tonight's tapings.
The video itself was released by WWE with an article titled, "Shayna Baszler officially joins the WWE Performance Center". It shows the former member of MMA's four horsewomen training and speaking about her thirst for a shot in the WWE.
What's next?
Baszler is definitely on the track to success in the WWE, with her reputation in the MMA backing her all the way. Moving to the yellow brand would certainly be great for her and would add to the brand's roster depth when it comes to women.
Author's take
Baszler has certainly turned her fortunes around and that's great to see. Storyline-wise it would be great to see if the WWE use her as a way to introduce Ronda Rousey given their past. However, it is unlikely given that Rousey would probably begin her career in the main roster.
