WWE News: Sheamus calls out Wayne Rooney, will we see a showdown in Manchester?
The last time a WWE Superstar messed with Manchester United lynchpin Wayne Rooney, it didn’t end that well. Well, that isn’t stopping the Celtic Warrior Sheamus from throwing down the gauntlet to the striker. On an appearance on Soccer AM, the flame-haired Irishman had this to say to Rooney:
With WWE’s traditional post-WrestleMania UK tour having kicked off, the crowds in Britain will be banking on a roller coaster ride to cure them of the hangover from the biggest wrestling blowout of the year.

After RAW and SmackDown in the O2 Arena in London on the 18th and 19th of April, WWE will travel north to Manchester for an event. Never one to back down from a fight, even in an enemy’s back yard, Sheamus dared Rooney to face him in the ring: “You may be good at Manchester United, you may be good in front of goal, but you have got no chance in the WWE ring.”
Shovelling dirt on ostracized League of Nations member Wade Barrett, Sheamus continued, “Don't worry about King Barrett, he is a little soft. If you want someone hard and a real fight, take on the Celtic Warrior. I will be ready and waiting in that ring in Manchester."
During WWE’s tour of the UK in November last year, Barrett talked smack to Rooney who was ringside and was silenced with a resonant slap in full view of the whole audience. The former bare-knuckle brawler was cast out of the stable following a loss to New Day on the RAW after WrestleMania.
