WWE News: Shelton Benjamin confirms that he has not signed with the WWE
What’s the story?
Shelton Benjamin recently tweeted that he hasn’t signed with WWE. You can view the tweet below:
In case you didn’t know...
Benjamin was with WWE from 2000 to 2010. He got his start in the developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling before making his main roster debut in 2002 as part of the “World’s Greatest Tag Team” with Charlie Haas. On April 22, 2010, WWE released Benjamin from his contract.
The heart of the matter
Last July, WWE aired a vignette that promoted the return of Benjamin to Smackdown Live. A month later, Benjamin announced that he suffered a torn rotator cuff and would have to undergo surgery.

Benjamin then declared this past March that he was medically cleared to compete. People began to assume that he was on his way back to WWE; however, he never signed a contract with them even though they aired those vignettes.
What’s next?
Benjamin is going to take part in VIP’s King Of The South event in Arlington, Texas on April 29th. Other wrestlers on that card include Homicide (Impact Wrestling) and Brian Cage (Lucha Underground).
Author’s take
At age 41, Benjamin is still in phenomenal shape and performs at a high level. I hope that WWE signs him as he deserves another run with the company.
The culture and roster of the WWE are dramatically different since Benjamin was there, and I believe he could flourish in the United States or Intercontinental Championship picture.
