WWE News: Sin Cara reacts to his huge win on SmackDown Live
What's the story?
Sin Cara picked up his biggest win in years this past Tuesday on SmackDown Live, when the masked superstar managed to defeat WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin.
The win was via count-out, but a win is a win. Following the match, Sin Cara was interviewed by Dasha Fuentes.
In case you didn't know
When the book is written on professional wrestling, Sin Cara will surely get its own chapter. The original Sin Cara debuted in the company in January 2011 with a huge amount of hype, with many saying that WWE finally had a new Rey Mysterio on its hands.
Injuries, drug test failures and an unwillingness to evolve meant the man known as Mistico was a bust, but WWE decided to commit to Sin Cara as a character. Hunico took over under the mask, and the Lucha dragon has been spinning his wheels ever since.
The heart of the matter
This past week on SmackDown Live, Sin Cara went up against WWE United States Champion Baron Corbin. Many assumed that the match was going to be a short affair with Corbin picking up an easy win. However, the WWE Universe reacted with total shock when Sin Cara finished the match with his hand raised.
Sin Cara hit Corbin with a huge plancha to the outside, and "The Lone Wolf" was unable to make it back into the ring before the 10 count. Dasha Fuentes interviewed Sin Cara backstage after the match, who said he was very happy to be back on SmackDown Live.
Dasha then moved the interview into Spanish to talk about WWE's upcoming tour of Latin American, which will include the promotion's first ever show in Argentina. Sin Cara said he was very excited about the upcoming tour. The full interview can be seen below.
What's next?
WWE's Latin America tour kicks off tonight in Buenos Aires and followed by more shows in Chile. Does Sin Cara's big win signify a major push for the masked superstar? It is unlikely, but it is good to see the former Hunico on television at the very least.
Author's take
The excitement that surrounded the original Sin Cara's signing back in January 2011 is long, long gone. Sin Cara is an enhancement talent at best these days, and I've long been wanting him to revert back to the Hunico character. This will more than likely lead to Baron Corbin getting his retribution next week on SmackDown.
