WWE News: Sin Cara sends a message to Baron Corbin after Smackdown Live
What’s the story?
Following his controversial match against Baron Corbin on Smackdown Live this week, Sin Cara decided to take it to the social media and send a message to the current United States Champion, and anyone who tries to take away Sin Cara’s mask away from him.
In case you didn’t know…
Sin Cara has been a part of the WWE since 2009 and is also a former FCW and NXT Tag Team Champion. Over the years, the Mexico City native has been part of some memorable feuds in WWE, including his most memorable feud against Sin Cara Azul (Mistico).
Sin Cara was also in a tag team with fellow luchador wrestler Kalisto forming the Lucha Dragons. The two men were highly successful during their time in NXT and also managed to win the tag team titles in WWE’s developmental brand. The duo would eventually split up in the 2016 draft.
Sin Cara has recently started a feud with “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin. The two men first faced each other two weeks ago in a match that saw Sin Cara come out victorious via a count out win. Following that, Corbin got his rematch against Sin Cara last week on Smackdown but would go on to get himself disqualified resulting in another win for Sin Cara.
The heart of the matter
On this week’s episode of Smackdown Live, Sin Cara and Baron Corbin went toe-to-toe for the third week in a row and this time Corbin went after Sin Cara’s mask after he tried to rip it off on numerous occasions during the match. Sin Cara eventually snapped and went on to assault Corbin heavily which led to the match being stopped via a no-contest.
After the match, Sin Cara tweeted out saying that his family and his heritage lies within his mask. He would also go on to warn others by stating that if any of his opponents try to take it away from him, then he would make sure to take away their ability to walk up to the ring.
What’s next?
As of right now, it seems like Sin Cara will continue his rivalry with Corbin for the next few weeks. There is also a possibility of Sin Cara receiving a shot at the United States Championship after Survivor Series.
Author’s Take
Personally, I believe that this storyline between Sin Cara and Baron Corbin has immense potential to be a great mid-card rivalry. I haven’t been a fan of Sin Cara but would surely like to see if the masked luchador can live up to his expectations or not if he is handed a US Title shot in the near future.
