WWE News: SmackDown Live Superstar getting new theme song

What’s the story?

The WWE Music Group has revealed three new SuperStar theme tunes tonight via Twitter, including a new entrance song for Tamina. Drew Gulak and Kairi Sane will also have new songs released.

In case you didn’t know…

Tamina has enjoyed a long tenure at WWE, arriving in 2010. She is a second-generation Superstar, the daughter of Jimmy Snuka. She enjoyed her most successful era alongside Naomi and Sasha Banks in Team BAD, previously being paired with The Usos and as AJ Lee's bodyguard, and more recently being managed by Lana as a singles star.

The heart of the matter

Tamina's new song "What You Think" will be released on December 21st, so we may actually hear it debuted as early as tomorrow.

There hasn't been any other real information available, but given the recent release of Jim Johnston from his role at the start of this month, we can probably expect that this will be another offering from composition and production duo CFO$ who have done many popular songs for WWE, including Bobby Roode's Glorious.

What’s next?

Well, if this is part of a mini repackaging, it could mean big things for Tamina. She has been getting a steady push on SmackDown Live with a decent showing last week in a Lumberjack Match against the current Women's Champion Charlotte Flair and has been built as a dominant force in the women's division, while possibly still a dormant one.

WWE obviously have invested in her by pairing her with Lana who seemed to be such a good manager for real-life partner Rusev. Tamina is a good worker but has always struggled on the microphone, so maybe things are finally starting to come together.

Her current theme tune may be seen as outdated, so hopefully, this breathes a new lease of life into Tamina's character.

Author’s take

Tamina has always been a bit of an enigma, with WWE almost trying to book her as SmackDown Live's version of Nia Jax, but not really going all-in. This could really freshen her character up, and I'd say she definitely needs it. Tamina is a good worker who really has two weaknesses, the aforementioned microphone skills or lack thereof, and her inability to draw a crowd reaction. We've all saw the wonders that can come with a great entrance, so fingers crossed this one does it for Tamina!
