From the WWE Rumor Mill: SmackDown Live Superstar undergoes surgery; return timeline possibly revealed
What’s the story?
SmackDown Live Superstar Tamina Snuka has reportedly undergone shoulder surgery. Besides, a potential comeback timeline for Snuka has also been predicte.
In case you didn’t know…
Tamina Snuka has performed for the WWE since 2010 and has previously dealt with several injury issues in the past.
Snuka has previously suffered from knee injury issues (2014), as well as torn ligaments a couple of years back.
The heart of the matter
The vast majority of professional wrestling industry experts believe that Tamina Snuka wasn’t initially planned to compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, as she had been dealing with a nagging shoulder injury over the past few weeks—owing to which she performed for only about 2 minutes in the Royal Rumble Match before getting eliminated by Lita.
It’s now rumoured that Snuka has undergone successful surgery on his torn rotator cuff—with said surgery taking place a couple of days after the Royal Rumble PPV.
Furthermore, it’s being emphasized that Snuka’s injury is the same as that of Jeff Hardy—a torn rotator cuff—something that has kept Hardy out of action since October of last year.
What’s next?
Per general medical guidelines, the recovery timetable for an athlete who’s undergone surgery to repair a rotator cuff is about 6-8 months.
Nevertheless, the rehabilitation process may be pushed back further, as the physical demands of performing as a pro-wrestler/sports-entertainer are considerably high, and require athletes to be in optimum shape during the matches. Regardless, Snuka is expected to return before the end of the 2018 calendar year.
Author’s take
Honestly speaking, Tamina Snuka has been one of the most unfortunate WWE Superstars when it comes to injuries. Given Snuka’s laundry list of injuries, one can’t help but feel for this talented performer.
Sportskeeda wishes Tamina Snuka a safe and speedy recovery.
