WWE News: SmackDown Live trio unveil their new name; Ruby Riot renamed Ruby Riott
What's the story?
Tonight on SmackDown Live, Ruby Riott announced that the female trio that invaded the show last week would now be called 'The Riott Squad', after Ruby's name was officially changed to include an extra "T" earlier today.
In case you didn't know...
Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott made their main roster debut last week when they attacked Naomi and Becky Lynch backstage before bringing the fight to Charlotte and Natalya when they invaded their SmackDown Women's Championship match.
There has been speculation all week tying the three women to former Divas Champion, Paige, following her return with Absolution on Monday Night Raw the night after Survivor Series.
It also seems that following her promotion to the main roster, WWE decided to trademark Ruby Riott, which has meant that she has also had to undergo a slight name change.
The heart of the matter
Ruby Riott confirmed during a backstage interview on this week's SmackDown Live, that her trio was now known and The Riott Squad.
It seems that as of yet Ruby, Liv and Sarah haven't dropped any hints to suggest that they are linked to the trio who debuted on Raw last week, which was led by Paige and included fellow NXT stars Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose.
What's next?
Morgan, Logan and Riott took on Natalya, Charlotte and Naomi on SmackDown Live, but after Natalya left her team high and dry, it seems that the numbers game caught up to Charlotte and Naomi.
Naomi was taken out of the equation by Morgan and Logan when they attacked her with the steel steps, before the three-on-one assault helped the trio to pick up the first win on the Blue Brand in their first match by pinning the SmackDown Women's Champion.
This could be a sign of things to come for the trio, who have definitely added an edge to the SmackDown Women's Division over the past two weeks. As Mojo Rawley stated earlier in the night, "the landscape is changing."

The Women's Revolution is in full force and there's no sign of James Ellsworth to take the glory away from the hard-working women of WWE.
This was exactly what SmackDown needed and with rumours of a women's Royal Rumble in the new year, it seems as though it's an exciting time to be a female wrestler in WWE.
