WWE News: Stephanie McMahon aiming for Ronda Rousey when she retires from UFC
In an interview with TMZ, Stephanie McMahon was asked about her thoughts on the women main eventing Hell In A Cell and what it meant for the future, and also about Ronda Rousey’s statement that her upcoming fight is going to be one of her last.
Here is the clip of the interview, where she indicates that she wants to try and get the former UFC Bantamweight Champion in the ring:
Stephanie McMahon and Ronda Rousey are good friends outside the ring. They respect one another, and Stephanie firmly believes that “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey is someone for little girls to look up to.
However, in Wrestlemania 31 shortly after Triple H’s match with Sting, Triple H and Stephanie decided to brag about his victory and rub it to the fans, which eventually led to The Rock coming out to the ring.
After all the verbal jabs back and forth, Stephanie slapped The Brahma Bull, provoking him and asking if he was going to hit a woman. The Rock said that he would never do that, but he had a good friend who would, and brought out Ronda Rousey from the first row, which made the Levis Stadium crowd erupt in cheers.
After a little more verbal back and forth, Stephanie attempted to slap the then-UFC Bantamweight Champion, until she was caught, after which she realised it was a bad idea. Rousey then put her in an armbar, and when The Rock started to attack Triple H, Rousey slammed The Game onto the floor.
Ronda Rousey returning to WWE has been a long-standing rumour since Wrestlemania 31, and many believe that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion will return to the squared circle for a match and pick up the on-screen feud with Stephanie at some point.
The Wrestlemania 31 segment even won the Slammy Award last year for the best “This is Awesome Moment”:
