What's the story?

India is the biggest international market for WWE, at least in terms of the audience that watches the product on a weekly basis. WWE has taken a variety of initiatives to nurture and grow this audience, even going as far as putting the title on 'The Modern Day Maharaja', Jinder Mahal.

Stephanie McMahon would join The Singh Brothers and perform a special dance for the WWE Universe in India. They danced to 'Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai' from the Bollywood movie- Ishq.

In case you didn't know...

The Singh Brothers debuted on the Cruiserweight Classic as the Bollywood Boyz. They were repackaged as the Singh Brothers and made Jinder Mahal's evil sidekicks.

They would play a very important role in Jinder Mahal's title run, often assisting him to retain his Championship through the most underhanded tactics. In fact, they would also take massive bumps during the match to make the contest more memorable.

They still accompany Jinder Mahal to this day, but ever since his stock has fallen, they have been playing a far more limited role.

The heart of the matter

The Singh Brothers were joined in their video by Stephanie McMahon who expressed her fascination with Bollywood. The Singh Brothers told her that the film industry was the largest in the world, and not many people know this.

Stephanie McMahon drew a lot of parallels between the pomp and spectacle of Bollywood and the WWE Universe. The Singh Brothers would then ask her to deck herself up in a traditional Indian chunni and join them for a special dance performance. And then they danced away to a Bollywood track!

What's next?

The rumours indicate that WWE plans to start a Performance Center in India, very soon indeed. If this happens, NXT India will be a reality. Moreover, like my interview linked above indicates, WWE plans to produce localised content for the Indian subcontinent soon.
