WWE News: Stephanie McMahon says Triple H is responsible for Women's Revolution
What's the story?
In a recent interview with The Times of India, Stephanie McMahon was asked about the Women's Revolution and how it has escalated to the point it has today - being closer to equality with the male Superstars than ever before.
In case you didn't know...
The Women's Revolution is in full swing. With Iron Man matches, Hell in a Cell match, Women's Money In The Bank Match, a Women's Royal Rumble Match and now the announcement of the very first Women's Elimination Chamber match, it doesn't look like slowing down anytime soon.
The heart of the matter
Stephanie said that the fans asked the question and the person we have to thank for answering them is Triple H!
Stephanie claims that The Game's recruitment and training are a huge factor behind the evolution of women's wrestling in WWE.
"In terms of WWE, Paul Levesque (Triple H) started recruiting elite athletes from all over the world, both male and female, and he started training them (the female Superstars) the same way as men."
Stephanie went on to add that the audience then played a huge part after Triple H had done his job too.
"He gave them the same opportunity to tell stories in the ring, and what resulted was a huge ground swell of our audience chanting for our women and chanting "Women's wrestling" and 'This is Wrestling' - and it really gave rise to the voice of our audience and they knew they could impact the content of our show."
Stephanie also went on to speak about how WWE has remained relevant.
The real reason why WWEremains so relevant and continues to grow over the past 50 years, is we are all about storytelling - no different than a famous opera, play, book or a sitcom. It is protagonist vs antagonist with conflict resolution; the only difference is our conflict are settled inside a 20x20 foot ring.
She also went on to praise the fans for WWE's longevity too.
"When you have that connection with the audience, when audience is part of the show influencing the storytelling and you have larger than life, still relatable characters, the audience has the opportunity to engage and live their fantasy through these characters which is no different than any other form of media and that really is the secret to or our success."
What's next?
Well, the Women's Revolution, as said before, is not slowing down. The first ever Women's Elimination Chamber Match takes place on 25 February.
Author's take
It's no surprise that Stephanie has praised Triple H when asked about the Women's Revolution. The Game is really changing the game in WWE these days - whether it's bringing in some of the best women in the world or some of the best men in the world.
The King of Kings seems to be building bridges to the indies and beyond, and trying to make WWE even bigger than it has possibly ever been!
Obviously, the abundance of talented women in the world of wrestling has played a monumental role, but you have to give both Hunter and Stephanie some great credit for their role in showcasing that talent on the biggest stage as well.
